Sonny, thanks much for this effort! So, I still cannot find 45/0243K, searching on 243K. Is this still
a glitch? If not, how do I get my car's info into your database?
Greg, per my post on page 2 of this thread "Records for all post Jan 70 Elan types from units 0172 through to 0501 were destroyed in a flood of the old airfield fire station at Hethel in the late 1970s. It is these missing records that Andy Graham, I and others are attempting to replicate. The data required is the full VIN, including year and month (and batch number for 70/71 cars), the original engine no if known and the original colour code if known. Any additional info gratefully received."

Yes, it doesn't find 0243 either. I guess I didnt put 2 +2 together and see that the data is coming
from Lotus. Which is still odd because I have an Archivist letter from some years back verifying
what they could of my car. Someone there should have my VIN.

The data on the VIN tool is not coming direct from Lotus, hence the amendment to say if you want build information to contact me at Lotus via the Archive e-mail address as It would appear our invoice register was copied by ?? many years ago and it is that copy that the VIN tool appears to be using, but not all of the information has been copied.
Greg,
When was the letter written as it may have been before the records at Lotus got destroyed?
Are you able to send me a copy, I can then look into it.

Andy,
I have two letters, one from Maurice Storey and the other from Mike Pomfret, both are dated 2001
Not much info, really.
Attached are pdfs of the letters. I'll work with you offline, if you wish.
Thanks much

All the 26R data is missing from the source material Sonny is using.
And not every single Elan has it's data on this source either.

*sigh* Yes, I know. Point is, someone / some department now has my car information so it should be
archived. Andy? Anyway, I found my old copy of the Sports Car World 'registry' and my car is NOT
there, hence, nothing comes up on this VIN tool search.
But again, I don't understand why this isn't being used?

I believe the owner was trying to 'pass the baton' recently.

This sounds like it came from a book that Mike Pomfret had by his desk. I only found out about this a couple of years after he retired when another customer had more information from Mike than we have left. I managed to ask him about this and he said he left everything he had at Lotus, but by this time no-one knew where Mikes old records went, I suspect someone saw a tatty book and put it in for paper recycling. Why this was not stored with the other records ?? So if anyone has any records from Mike from the 90s/00s please let me know so that I can replace some of the lost information.

Thanks
Tony

Hi: Folks. Q: Where do I order and buy a factory Lotus company archive data base type heritage certificate and or print out for my 1962 Lotus; by providing them the cars correct ID#/Chassis # of the car on the car and the ID # on the Lotus large metal id plate?
I've Googled and Googled and nothing comes up for my searches.
It's like a JDHT >>(Jaguar Daimler Heritage Trust)<< certificate for any Jaguar from the late 30's to more than after 1974. I have ordered over a dozen of those from my buddy in the UK at the archives and they state the date made, date left the factory, color scheme, engine #, gearbox #, body #, options ordered and the name of the dealer who sold it new. Sometimes (but rarely); they even give the first owners name. etc., etc.
Or like the British >>Heritage Reports<< for MG and Triumph and Austin Healey etc., cars; that comes from the British archives over there; basically stating when the car was built, when it left the factory and in which colors and options ordered and the dealer who sold it new etc., etc.
Or like a 356 or 911 etc., Porsche >>(COA)<< certificate of authenticity or a factory German Kardex that comes from the German archives in Germany. PS: The Kardex is way better than the COA's.
OK: better stop typing helllpppppp.....
