Valve clearance and door

Hi all,

Returned tired but what an event Goodwood Revival was. Expensive to be honest but simply amazing.
So nice to meet James and Ian on the car park (soaked wet muddy field) and talk about Elans.

I have a few questions on my rebuild project;
Does anybody know what the valve clearances should be on the 1971 Sprint? I saw discussions from 2009 but couldnt work out the definitive answer #iamnotamechanic

Does anybody have a picture of the inner door mechanism? I am afraid I forgot how the metal rods? are connected to the door mechanism inside?
Funny observation: the door handle and mechanism are exactly the same as on the Jaguar XJC
So if nobody knows I guess I have to convince my brother to take his door apart.

Do you not have a workshop manual ? I’m sure all the settings are in there.

Otherwise Google is your friend ! Which gave me this…

The first thing i do when i buy a car is to also buy a Workshop Manuel. Why not Brian Buckland's with lots of other good info.

Just to clarify: we do have the workshop manual.

My mechanic friend just wanted to make sure that there isn’t a preload to take into account. For instance (and I am repeating what he said and I am not a mechanic) that in a Peugeot needs a 45 degree tightning after torque setting the bolts.

He couldnt find if preload or similar was indicated but thanks for the link with info.

All bolts on an Elan are normal torque bolts. The are no torque to yield bolts as used on modern cars that are tightened by doing a spcified torque and then a further angle turn.
