Why Restore a Lotus Elan?

Why Restore a Lotus Elan?

Famous Frank asks the basic question all of us ask our self. Frank starts out the topic:1966 Lotus Elan SE in progress.

Some of you may have noticed I’m in the process of restoring my 66 S2 SE. Please allow me to explain why I’m taking on the this project and what is involved with this one. Let’s start by saying, I truly enjoy restoring cars. I many times think I like the restoration more than driving or showing of them later. This isn’t my first restoration but it is the most extensive I’ve tackled. 1966 Lotus Elan S2 body offOne thing to remember, when I say “I restore”, it should always be read as “we restore”. Every car I’ve ever restored, I could not have done the work without the untiring assistance of Club and Forum members. That goes for all the clubs and forums, but especially this forum. It is by far the best and the members are above reproach! Thank you all.

Thank you for those kind words Frank. Come and read Why Restore a Lotus Elan

Difficult Cold Starting – Dellortos

Difficult Cold Starting – Dellortos

Weber - hole on the sideThe world has gotten used to fuel injection and not having to worry about starting your car. This is not the case with a classic sports car. What makes the Lotus Elan even more fun is have two carburetors.

Carburetors are fun. There are all kinds of adjustments that can be made. This is ok, if you purchased your car new and have made all the adjustments yourself. If you purchased a car, you have know idea what the previous owner did.

Read through this article as the forum members help a fellow Lotus Elan Plus 2 owner out solving a cold start issue.

Yes, the image is of a Weber, but the post is about Dellortos. Follow the story and see the results at Difficult Cold Starting – Dellortos.
