new legislation comming our way

PostPost by: twincamman » Tue Apr 01, 2008 12:05 am

the safety Gestapo have started a campaign IN North America in order to stop people who wear glasses and other optical vision corrections from driving a car without a prescription ground windshield fitted their cars !and said part to held in p-lace with British standard whitworth fasteners --- Any one with out 20/20 vision will have to have this done by Sept 2009 ----your optical benefit may be applied to the windshield -- once -- to alleviate the cost -----CORNING GLASS will be the main supplier -----the reason offered is safety as shards of glass from the spectacles in a crash may cause blindness or slipping specticals from the face may cause an accident as of course fogging of the specs may cause loss of control of a car --- -big brother is here -ed

Shush...

Speak such jests in whispers --- those twisted safety police and megalomanic bureaucrats would probably think that something as loopy as a prescription windscreen is a good idea.

it appears the test car for the prescription wind shield was parked in the sun and optical convergence caused the vehicle to burst merrily into flames > The automotive overseers have gone back to their cave to rethink this short sighted idea -----ed

Anyone remember the Billy Connolly stand up on this subject - apparently his father was a very proud steelworker and would not wear glasses, neither had he passed his car driving test and so drove a 3 wheeler (Reliant Robin). When told he had to wear glasses to drive he was up in arms over it until Billy told him he could have a prescription windscreen fitted. Just imagine the shock on pedestrians and other drivers faces when you saw this 3 wheeler coming down the road with this great big head sat in it! Great image!

Ed,

Also I understand that if you do not opt for the vision corrected windshield you must paint your car white, with a red nose of course.

Here in the states every new BM W comes with a dunce's cap. I think they've been doing that for about 25 years.
