Gino,

You should be able to find both Gulf blue (328) and Gulf orange ( 019) in the BASF/Glasurit catalog on line - look in the Porsche section these were stock colors , color codes in brackets , last time i checked, BASF still made s a single stage urethane that will look right . there is a chance PPG will the formula in concept single stage ( they did for signal orange )

Great to see it out racing again, i heard it had been in a collection languishing which was a sad outcome after Tony 's succcess with it.

Nice sunny day...but was it chilly? Looks like the oil cooler had been duct taped over?

Cheers - Richard

Quite right Richard, sunny but chilly. The owner had given his engine builder the day with the car a treat I suspect.
The owner had hurt his wrist / arm during the preceding week I believe. He acquired the car this year sometime as he said he had been racing it, not sure where.

It was at Le Mans Classic this year and I believe that it now lives in France. Driver Georges Verquin.

Can I ask what spring rates and type of shocks do you use? (Sorry all for the digression...).

150lb/inch front springs with 7/8 inch roll bar.
110 lb/inch rear springs with a 20 mm spacer above and below the rubber aeon springs to bring the rubber springs into play earlier and stiffen up the rear in roll. No rear roll bar.
TTR front Gaz dampers and Spax rear ( i have a TTR Koni rear set I will fit over christmas)

Not as stiff as many racers in Europe use influence by TTR who liked his cars very stiff. More like the Dave Bean recommendations who liked his race cars softer. it works for me and is flexible and accomodates many types of tracks and weather conditions as I dont have time to play with settings for individual race meetings.

cheers

No need to apologise; I think that looking at photos showing the attitude of other cars racing can be very instructive. If it looks right it very often is right... though not always!

RH drive Elans always look nicer in right hand corners as the drivers weight is a significant proportion of the total car weight and it helps keep the car flat and stable. Body roll in a LH corner is more for my car and the car is certainly less stable and less easily drifted and controlled in a LH corner, especially a high speed one of which there are a few on the tracks I race on. It is the one area of handling I am not that happy with and may have to go stiffer to improve it.

cheers

That`s why European "sports" cars were right hand drive for many years as most circuits were clockwise.
