My 2nd car was a Spit of that colour.

Actually you're correct...my memory is playing tricks on me...I can't just lay my hands on a pic of the whole car, but here is a small section of the front end post accident around 1981.

Yes, I rather think I do.
But, I am a bit concerned with the silver bumper. You have three different colours intersecting at the nose. But of course, I couldn’t go with body coloured bumpers, not original looking. Is the yellow stripe a historical Lotus racing emblem?

There are four different colours if you count the hood. Coordinating colours is not really a Lotus thing, just look at a full liveried Sprint. Red over white intersected by gold stripes with black wheels with chrome embellishments and gold bumpers with a chrome strip, sounds like an awful mess, but somehow seems to work.
A full body stripe will get you noticed, but it’s a big decision.
Kindest regards

One of the prettiest Elans I've ever seen went to auction a bit over a year ago. The plate was YEG 300J and a search for it will yield a number of photos plus an interesting story of a former-now-current owner. Unfortunately, other than "blue" there is no mention of the actual color. Even more unfortunate (to me) is the current owner had it returned to its original white.
I'd really like to know what shade of blue it was...before I have to order paint for my project.

Clark in the Lotus 49, with Chapman there as well, at Zandvoort, 1967.....
Ahh...nice pic!....Brilliant win for Lotus that day!
It was the first Dutch Grand Prix I had ever been to, Zandvoort in '67. The world of F1 was certainly more exciting back then.....

Gotta make it look competitive somehow.
Wonder when the cover will be blown

Jerry, given the back story on that car an educated guess may be that the French racing driver and collector had the car resprayed to match others in his collection, which does sometimes happen with collectors. Guessing again and looking at the photos, it is conceivable that the colour is from the Renault Alpine palate.
