Minilite Wheels

PostPost by: jono » Mon Nov 15, 2010 12:43 pm

I ordered a set of 14 x 5.5 from Minilite at the NEC classic car show over the weekend and was pleasantly surprised at the deal on offer (a significant saving on ordering from the ususal suspects).

PM me and I will give you the details and a contact - I am sure they would not mind supplying others on the same terms.

Greg,

Offset to suit an Elan and, yes, knock on. Our UK Panasport equivalent.

Yes they do, bought mine a few years ago now. Bought them with a 95mm offset, after being advised by Worzel on here. The reason was that if I remember correctly 95mm is about in the middle of the range of offsets that they make.
Fitted standard size tyres (155 x 13), I also did change the rear springs at Spyder for the 2 1/4" dia.

Had no issues with wheels touching the body work, had to take a slight amount of metal off the lower rear wishbone bolts to give about 1/4" of clearance.

Job done worked very nicely indeed.

Evan
I contacted them (thanks Jono) re 13 x 6 knock on's for my S2 elan and apparently these are available in 105mm backspace. Unsure on narrower wheels though. I currently have bolt on 6 x 13 Panasports under 26R guards so as long as the offset is the same I will buying and freighting over.

Reading Gordon's post may be should have mentioned my wheels are 5 1/2 knock on's.

Can anyone that has made the change from the original 13" steel wheels to the 14" minilites comment on if they noticed a difference in handling? It is more weight at the corners and was wondering if it was noticeable. Thank, Dan

I am looking to replace my bolt on panasport with knock on Minilites, I currently have 6"rims and will replace with the same as they fit under the 26R guards

Question on 13 vs 14" Kock on wheels, can anyone who has the above tell me....
- Any issues with either size and the spinners catching on the wheels? Looks like they will be tight, especially on the 13"
- Will the 14"give me more clearance around suspension bits?
- What offset does anyone else have for 6"

Thanks in anticipation.

Brian is really the expert on the 14". I believe he has 5.5" with 115mm backspace and the suspension clearance is better with the 14" than 13". Dan

Hey - all you Minilite and so on fitters! I am in dire need of the chrome wheel trims as fitted to the Sprint. The modern replacements are too narrow to look right so if you have any trims a PM would be great. I lost one in Italy into a sunflower field when going a bit sprightly and could not find it again. Request also posted in the "Wanted" section but though that the real wheelies would be hereabouts............. :D

Hi there,

I have a set of chrome trim rings, they are still in their plastic bags labled as Ford etc. I would like them to go to a good home.
