AT LAST....TYRES!

Right....getting to that stage in the rebuild (1968 S3/SE) where I need to start thinking about tyres. Standard knock on steel wheels fitted with 20 year old SP Sports, 145 section..
Researched the forums for weeks, starting to point towards 145/80/13 Vredestein Sprint. These can be bought online for less than ?30. Don't really want to go wider (155) in case of clearance problems. Am not willing to pay massive amounts of dosh, and the Sprints seem to be viewed quite favourably.
I know this has been covered, but anyone any first hand experience of these tyres, or any comparable one?
