Elan Sprint standard wheels

Quick question on wheels
My sprint (being put back together) has standard wheels - they need painting but are straight i.e. they run true when spun around.
Is it ok to still use these wheels - as I think they are only riveted - or do they need modifying, e.g. welding ?
Many thanks as always
Chris

Weren't they all riveted?
I've never heard it suggested that otherwise OK wheels should be welded.
I have welded cracks that were propogating outwards from the peg holes and that is the recommended repair but sure wouldn't get in there welding if crack detection tests show all to be well.
I had mine tested and the only problems picked up were ones that were obvious to the naked eye anyway.
Ralph.

Thanks for your replies - I will go with my standard wheels and get them checked/painted
Must have dreamt about a problem with the riveted wheels

Gents, the owner before the one before me (I'm sure that could be said better) used to track what is now my car occasionally and had issues with cracking around the peg holes (common problem, yes) - his solution was to weld in Alfasud centres into the back of the Elan wheels...
I can confirm they fit perfectly and there is no sign of cracking. Effectively the centres are double-skinned....
I believe the donor 'Sud wheels were the early ones that had the vent holes all around.... Even did the spare!
