1968 steel wheel colour?

Rich, the early Plus 2s cars all had plain silver wheels (check out the advertising of the day).
The black wheels with chrome rims were introduced (anyone care to verify this and provide a chassis number change point) for the "S".
Just to clarify, the chrome rims were not imbellishers. ie chrome plating was directly on the rim of the wheel and then the rim was riverted to the centre part of the wheel.
Regards

Rustoleum Hard Hat #2115 Aluminum very closely matches the original silver.

The very first few cars did have grey painted wheels. Nobody seems to know how many, but it seems that up to around chassis #50 had them. So there may well have been a few spare grey ones about, or somebody just fancied painting them in that colour?
