Two Gates Alloy Wheels

PostPost by: batfish » Tue Oct 09, 2007 12:12 pm

I have just been to a race meeting and seen a Minilite copy alloy wheel made by the Two Gates company completely fractured leaving the centre attached to the wheel hub and the spokes and rim completely seperate. This was on a BMW 2002 and in a race and therefore in more extreme conditions than a road car but it reminded me of concerns raised a few years ago about these wheels.

Regards

I have these on my Elan +2. I am now completeing the restoration and have yet to run the car. This topicx was covered recently.

Most people responded that the Elan and +2 wheels are OK.

I remain concerned. Especially in light of the fact that the company is no longer in business.

Hi, if you are worried about your wheels then I would suggest you inspect them carefully for cracking. If you still have concerns then get them checked by dye penetrant testing.
