Tyres

Dear all,
I'm in the final stages of my rebuild (1970 +2 S) and need new tyres for my revamped steel wheels; the originals were SP Sport and Good Year GT80's. What are people using now as the tyre fitters have no idea.
I don't envisage using for track days but who knows!
Cheers

Ive got goodyear eagle NCT3's....great in the dry.....not so great in the wet.....but as my car is a weekend pleasure car if its raining its stays in the garage.....
and at ?25 a corner I can complain at the price either.......
depends what you want from a tyre too......some people like the soft and sticky (like the toyo's)...some the hard and durable (like the michelin)........
I have a set of 4 SP's in the garage with loads of tread on them but as the rubber is now 35 years old they are even more dangerous than steel slicks.......I also have a couple of new toyos, couple of firestone and a couple of falkens.....its amazing what you get when you have 16 wheels lying round the garage.....god have I really got that many wheels....no wonder there no room for the wifes car......5 wolfrace alloys, 4 S3 steel wheels with chrome rim (on the car at present), 5 early +2 chrome wheels and a couple of spare steels which I'm guessing came from a gold leaf car as theyre gold.......16 wheels....crikey.......
sorry waffling....
GTG
cheers

On my S3 S/E Dhc, 155/80/13 Michelin Classic. Excellent in the dry, very hard wearing, can't really tell you what they're like in the wet, as I haven't been caught in the wet yet !
