wheels, steel or alloy?

PostPost by: thor » Thu Dec 28, 2006 11:05 am

I have a late +2S with the Lotus black/polished alloys with spinners, the wheels are a bastard to keep looking nice, and there's no one here that does refinishing or can do a proper mahine polish to the shiny parts. I'm thinking about switching to steels, as I have a contact which does a fantastic looking powder coating (and cheap!), and I like the look as well..

Is there a difference in width on the standard Lotus steels and alloys?

PS: before anyone mentions it, I think Minilites look silly on the +2..

Never seen it done on a car, but ever thought of a teflon coating? long time ago i saw it done on motorcycle wheels, supposed to work a treat.

Is there a non stick powder coating out there?

Good luck.

The steel wheels for the Plus 2 are 5 1/2 X 13, stamped right there on the rim for the world to see.

I have a set of black steel with chrome rim/nut wheels on my +2 that I would be willing to swap for your alloys. Drop me a line on jansammut*gmail.com if you are interested.
