George,
In theory, you should be able to do so. That was the first thing I did to my S4.
165-13 tires are a natural upgrade. Be a little careful of wheel fouling on the front wheel arch when turning. Also check for interference on the roll bar on full lock.
On the rear, there probably will not be any real problems. You may have some minor relief necessary on the rear wheel arch. The spring towers should clear.
A step up is 175/70-13 or 185/70-13. The 175/70-13 has the same rev/mile figure as the 155-13 (to within a percent). The 185/70-13 is within 1% of the 165-13. The 185/70-13 has more issues with the rear wheel arch, and also with the rear spring. I had to work at getting clearance at the rear.
The last option is 185/60-13, but this is a much smaller tire, almost 10% smaller than the 165-13.
Our UK friends seem to like the Michelin XAS FF, either 155-13 or 65-13, which are pricy but available fron a UK imorter.
Hope this helps.
