Minilite wheel balancing

A while ago I bought a new set of 5J Minilite wheels for my S4 Elan. I have just had new tyres fitted and was surprised that all 4 wheels needed an enormous amount of stick on weights to be fitted to get them balanced. This would suggest to me that the machining accuracy is not too good. Wondered if any one else had a similar issue with these wheels. Unfortunately I have also got to take them back to the tyre fitters as some of the weights hit the rear suspension lower arm and will need repositioning.

or your tyres are off a little.......
even f1 cars have to be balanced........
the tyre might be thicker at the edge than the middle....
there may be an overlap in the belting....
all sorts of other options........
just a thought.....it may not be your wheels
I know Ive had wheels with tyres that needed no weights then new tyres and there are weights everywhere.....

My knock on minilites were exactly the same... But balanced fine and no problem.
