Tyre pressures for Plus 2

PostPost by: Johnfm » Tue Nov 19, 2013 5:00 pm

So, manual is 18/24 front rear.

Lots of people seem to be running 28/33 front/rear.

Given that the car is roughtly 50:50 static weight distribution, why the lower front pressure? I can only assume the extra rear pressure is to slightly reduce rear end grip so the car has a tendency for oversteer rather than understeer.

Hi John,

After much experimenting with pressures when I first got my +2 many years ago I settled on 22 all round and have been very happy with this.

I'm running standard alloys with 165 80 13s.

Cheers Peter.

That sounds sensible. Will have a check once I get other issues put to bed.

If you are driving the car as intended, you need more front tire pressure to keep from wearing the outside of the front tires bald

Lowering the rear tire pressure keeps the ride from being too harsh

I run wider stickier tires but basically high 20's front low twenties rear is pretty good. Ride gets harsher higher and handling gets sloppier lower.
