just thinking out loud really
my +2 wheels need a good refurb.......
I want to go for the chrome rim and black centre
to split the rim to chrome the outer part it very difficult and not that preferred by wheel restorers...
what I thought was to get the whole wheel chromed......then I can just plastidip the centre (well spray paint the middle)

any thoughts?
I haven't asked an platers yet but thought Id ask and see if there's anything obvious I've missed

I've thought about this myself.
Wheel rims are usually chrome plated seperately from centres to avoid hydrogen embrittlement (& cracking) of the welds. Mine were welded, but maybe they are mostly rivited? In any case it might be difficult to get a good chrome finish without seperating them
I do like the original chrome rims/black centres, but costly to reproduce. Having the chrome stripped should be reasonably cheap. Paint would be a lot cheaper than chrome & probably more durable on well prepared metal.
I gave up & bought Minilites, as mine weren't in real good shape anyway.
Good luck
