Bolt on Wheels and possible replacements

I am just starting to look for a suitable Elan FHC and I've seen one with bolt on steel wheels with hub caps. I much prefer knock-ons and wonder how difficult it is to both find and fit the knock-on hubs and source suitable wheels? Were later Elans, S3/S4 fitted as an option with bolt on wheels or just the earlier cars?

S/E and Sprint models had knock off wheels and were an option on others. I have never seen an S4 without knock offs.
New hubs are required plus the wheels. Will be an expensive exercise, even if you can get all the bits used.
I'm still after a good pair of S4 knock off rear hubs - can swap for Spyder machined hubs for greater insert.
I woud suggest bolt on Minilite wheels would be cheaper and look in period.

Bolt on Minilites on an S2.
Edited to add - bolt on steel wheels are probably at least over 30 years old by now, & should only be used on a car that is going to be driven "carefully" unless they have been crack tested & proved to be perfectly sound. I've had one fail - rear nearside. The bolted centre stayed attached to the car, & the tyre / outside part overtook me on the inside as the car went into rather a sudden version of oversteer. I had about 3 seconds warning with a wobble from the rear end, but no idea what it was or what was just about to happen!

Standard equipment S4's came with bolt on hubs - most S4's came as S/E cars so not many around with bolt ons but they do exist
