Laurenth,

I know from experience that it's a tall order looking for this type of wheel 2nd hand in knock on format. Even when they do turn up they tend to fetch strong money. It's a bit like looking for second hand CV driveshafts.

I eventually ordered new from Minilite and they were surprisingly not that expensive (in Elan terms!). Did the same with the CV driveshafts as well. I got fed up with waiting for something to turn up which probably wouldn't and it's worth the money IMO to know the wheels are right and not hiding any hidden cracks or other nasties.

Not so simple, move the wheel inboard to clear the bodywork and you quickly foul the wishbone outboard bushing housings. You can't deviate too far in overall width without modifying either the body, the wishbones or both.

Gents,
I recently contacted minilite UK. If I remember correctly, they are limited in the number of offset they can provide.
Jon, what's your offset on your wheels? Are they std +2 wheels i.e. 5.5x6 ET approx 47?
Ultimately, there's a company called Image Wheels. They can only provide billet wheels for the Lotus Elan due to the k/o feature. All wheels are machined to order. Therefore, you can have any width, any offset! Not that cheap but that's the price to pay to be different...
Remember....simplicity is best!

I have a set of aluminum KO wheels that were made from a set of wheels originally on a Sunbeam Tiger. The center was machined out and a pressure plate was machined to accomodate the pegs and KO spinner. They are 6.5 x 13 and I had planned to flair the wheel wells on my Elan to fit them. Plans change! I will sell them for $75 per wheel plus freight but they are in California, so shipping may be expensive. If interested, I can send some photos.

My 7" JAPs. No clearance problems on the suspension. Flares obviously. Only 6" rims on the front and there can be rubbing on the roll (sway) bar with those depending on the tyre profile.

Not a plus two though.....

You're spot on Roy!
As I said, as long as you get the right offset, there's no problem!
Nice wheels by the way!
