Bolt on Wheels

Hi All,
I was talking with a friend this evening. The subject got around to old wheels and the straightness thereof.
I mentioned that I have 2 not very round wheels on the elan... then he said I?ve got a new set of elan wheels in my loft!
He bought them from a Lotus specialist in the 70?s with the plan to put them on a Triumph, which he subsequently sold. So unfortunately for me they are bolt-on wheels.
He has 4 of them ? any ideas what they might be worth?
I'll see If I can encourage him to part with them.
Thanks,
Simon

I had another email yesterday so here is an update
" I've got four of them in very good nick. Basically as I said last night they were driven from the Lotus factory to Colindale (May even have come on a transporter). The wheels were taken off the cars and mag alloys fitted. So they are definately 100% straight. They would need a respray but are rust free with just some minor cosmetic marking."
He also thinks there may be a fith one somewhere...
anyone any idea what they are worth?

No he has no idea which is why I am asking! He bought them to put on a triumph in the '70's but didn't. If we knew they would be in the for sale section...
All that I have been able to tell him is that new repro knock-ons are ?100 each. As far as I know repro's are not available so a good genuine (stamped RO & Co.) Set of bolt-ons are probably worth more?
I don't think he is in a hurry to sell them.

Hard to value this sort of stuff, but I bought a really nice set of 5 bolt-ons a couple of years ago for ?250. The guy selling them was expecting around ?300 (he's a part time dealer).
If they need repainting then I wouldn't value them any more than ?75 per wheel...it will cost ?25 per wheel to get them blasted and painted. The few I've seen for sale don't seem to fetch any more than the knock-ons. Nice to have as unused, therefore nice and round wheels!

Just a local car repair shop, but they weren't at all rusty or dented. All they needed was a quick blast to remove the old paint, an acid etch primer and a couple of two pack top coats....no preparation at all after the blasting, hence the price! However, the last set of Lotus Cortina wheels I had done 6 months ago were ?50 to blast and powdercoat...needed due to a bit of pitting. That is probably more representative of the price being charged now.
