I have the standard chrome rimmed steels on my car and wondered if there was any where that I can get them re built, all of them need re chroming and some of the peg holes are slightly oval.?

Try speaking to Spratley of Sourbridge. They routinely separate Rostyle wheels to rechrome the rims

Please report back how you got on with this. I too have a rim that I would like restored. It is buckled but otherwise ok. No one restores steel rims do they? It only seems to be alloys.

I'm confused. I thought the steel rims had push-on chrome embellishers. But then again, I'm not a +2 expert. Is the wheel construction different from those used on the 2-seater ?

At soem point I would like to get my wheels re-furbed.

Richard
The +2 has a plain steel centre boss (painted black) and chromed rim.

I e-mailed Richard Spratley about refurbishing Elan +2 wheels and this is his reply

Dear Sir,
Thank you for your enquiry. To refurbish lotus wheels as described is
normally ?140.00 each + VAT.
Carriage would be ?30.00 + VAT each way if required and we can arrange
collection.

Regards, Richard Spratley.

Elan Sprints had chrome wheel embellishers, +2 had chrome rims as stated earlier. Very early +2s had silver painted wheels. Some people, me included, have been known to put chrome embellishers on black +2 wheels when the chrome has past its best. MG Midget /MGB 13" embellishers fit via the MG Owners Club. Chrome rims look the best when finished off with new or rechromed wheel spinners.

My wheels were painted gold, as were the sills, I've always assumed this to be a nod to Gold Leaf Team Lotus because of the age of the car. Does anyone know if the factory did up +2's in the team colours?
