Spare wheel

Surely the spare supposed to fit in the boot without the plywood boards touching?

Funny question perhaps but I recently fitted a full size tyre to the spare wheel, replacing a 165/65 that was on it. Now the boards sit on top of the tyre rather than the frames that are supposed to support it...

Wider tire? My trunk/boot holds a 155x13, nothing fatter or taller.

Not wider, just a standard 165/80 x13. I'm sure the last one I had had a full size spare and fitted in the boot, although I never had it out as I never had a puncture...
