Steering Rack Limiters for large tires/wheels

I posted on this issue in the Racer section yesterday, then thought I should also post in the steering section. Has anyone had to modify their steering rack limiters (spacers inside the rack) to accommodate larger tire/wheel combinations? Presumably, this is to prevent the tire from rubbing on the sway bar at full lock.

I posted the use of rack limiters a while back.

I have 185/60 r 13 tires on a standard arch S4.

The Mustang clip on limiters worked great and were easy to install.

Hi 1owner69Elan,

Thanks for the input. It gives me some ideas and tells me Nylon/Delrin is a suitable material. There is also the caution that the these limiters need to be solidly attached to the rack, presumably so they don't get caught up on the rack teeth.

A variation might be to install one piece tubes that won't catch on the rack teeth and trim to length after fitting, with a knife or saw.
