S2 Elan Steering Rack

Bloody hell.

Is there only one oilite bushing in the rack? I can see one in the "long" end (this is the steel tubular end of the rack) but nothing in the cast ally housing. SHouldn't there be one in the ally as well?

The bushing is the fit of the rack wedged between the pinion and the pusher block from the other side. Scary isn't it! Whom ever designed that probably got an award.

Lubing it every year would be wise.
