steering wheel boss and changing of..

PostPost by: rocket » Fri Mar 06, 2009 9:41 am

Im in the process of changing a wood rim wheel for a leather one.My boss has 9 holes with 3.5 inch bore and 4 inch pcd.Having looked through ebay most wheels seem to be 6 hole with differing bore sizes.I dont want to change my boss if it means i cant keep the current horn push..Any suggestions for best course of action?

Cheers,

Ian.

Hi Ian,

Contemplating the same thing. I have the 14" dished non Chapman wheel with raised boss and horn push. The cost of a new wheel is no different to refurbishment so I have decided on a Moto Lita woodrim and will keep the original flimsy Loti wheel for sake of originality

The best option I have found which looks right and allows the Lotus boss to be re used is a Moto Lita thin slot 6 bolt Cobra wheel. It actually looks similar to an early Lotus woodrim wheel but has a much smaller centre 'hub' that the other Moto Lita wheels.

I spoke with the Moto Lita man at NEC last year and he said they would be prepared to supply such a wheel with an undrilled hub and 25mm centre hole. It would then be a case of drilling the wheel to accept the Lotus boss.

This is the route I shall be following
