Elan Steering Wheel Hub

I have a new wood wheel that has a larger bolt pattern than the lotus pattern, but it is not the larger 6 hole type. Needed is a 2 3/4 inch hole pattern, 6 hole adapter to be able to fit the car's shaft. I'm in the Northern Calif US. Any advice??
Thanks!!! Should have listened to the guys who said "keep your original wood wheel" To late. it's on EBay now. I, also am looking for the interior plastic trim from to dash up the windscreen on both sides. I ordered the under dash, heater trim from RD enterprises. I have heard that someone in Texas makes these trims.

A long shot but try <a href='http://www.moto-lita.co.uk/' target='_blank'>http://www.moto-lita.co.uk/</a>. They may be able to help with your problem. They will want to kmow how many splines are on your steering column.

Hamish, thanks for the tip but Moto wheels appear to have 9 holes and I need 6 holes. The lotus elan's shaft is 5/8 in dia. with 36 spline teeth. I also heard that the steering wheel shaft is the same as the triumph spitfire and others triumphs. Can anyone confirm. Thanks again, Sarto

Hello, I personally removed a stock steering wheel from a 1972 Spitfire and it fit perfectly on my 1964 S1 Elan. No shims, no nothin. Even the Lotus horn button snapped right in. It looked great but weighs about 5 times as much as the original.

mac - why don't you get a chum to win the eBay bidding on your original wheel? Who knows - he might even be prepared to sell it back to you at cost.

Don't know if it helps, but the Elan uses a Triumph Herald/Spitfire steering column, so anything which fits these cars should fit the Elan,

Thanks for all of the help!! I was able to find out that MOMO, SPARCO and NARDI have the same bolt pattern and if their available hubs for your car are not listed, GRANT hubs adapt to them and are cheap. GRANT does not have a lotus hub listed, but everyone was correct, the triumph, heralds and spitfires are available though GRANT.

The trim you are looking for is called "Pillar Trims" I ordered a pair from Chris Neil two years ago for 35 pounds. (Close to $70 with shipping) Their part number is LINT022.

Frank, thanks for the information!! I was able to get the heater valance from RD enterprises. But still need the "pillar trim". I'll look up Chris Neil and see if he still has them available.

Susan Miller at Mick Miller Classic Lotus parts supplied me with A Pillar trims not too long ago. They were not the flimsy thermo-plastic, but Fiberglass with the appropriate patten moulded in. Haven't installed them yet.
