Steering Wheel fitting

PostPost by: mac5777 » Thu Sep 13, 2012 7:55 pm

I have only worked with the spokes that have the slits rather than the holes. The wheels I've restored do fit the Cortinas that use the same Hubs. Not sure if all of the years and models used it. I don't know of any sources in the US that sells the hub/boss pieces. RD Enterprises has a reproduction horn push. http://www.rdent.com I attached a picture of it.
It was a Triumph Spitfire steering system--Maybe?? but I think Triumph use other wheel manufactures.
You do have a UK source. Dave Stanley at Alpha Steering wheels has all of the parts and makes the Springall wood wheel the way they had been built originally. Expensive but real nice.

You can tell its a reproduction by the extra chrome ring around the logo.

Hi Thanks Sarto
I know alpha wheels, he's not far from here, and have talked to Dave a couple of times on a different subject. I know he has the elan boss but I'm not aware he sells them separately, although I admit I've not asked.
