The bold is from the Robinshaw and Ross book:
S/N 3901 - Elan S2 Introduces
4109 - New brake master cylinder, new clutch master cylinder, new front calipers, revised rear brake discs, differential, intermediate and outboard shafts
Your car didn't come with the revised brakes
Nov 1964 - 26/3901 available
Jan 1965 - 26/4325
Build was lat '64 or early '65
Production numbers
Series 1 900, including 22 to 25 Elan 1500 and 52 26R variants
2 1250 including 45 26R
3 2650
4 2976 to 3000
Sprint 900 to 1353
Take none of this for gospel since the Lotus records were poorly kept and sometime real cars contradict what the books say is true . For example my car, 36/5890, should have the airflow vents but it doesn't. There are also some other less obvious differences to the "authoritative" guides.
