Turning right only i get a low knocking noise the occurs with wheel revolution, something like stone stuck in tyre. i have had a good look around and nothing seems obvious, any suggestions, noting that chassis has been fully rebuilt all new bushes, bearings etc

Street
Sometimes these annoying issues can be difficult to trace, but to recap,
1. Check body to wheel gap (front edge and back edge) whilst wheel is on full lock, they should be roughly the
same each side
2. At same time check bodywork for any signs of rubbing at these points
3. Does it sound like its coming from one wheel in particular
4. Although all new bushes fitted etc, in turn put both wheels on full lock, hold the top of the wheel and pull it back
and forth to see if you can feel any play
5. With wheels on the ground, jack each wheel up and check for any rotational knock (bad bearing) and again
check by holding top and bottom of wheel for any play, moving the wheels round a quarter of a turn each time
6. Jack one wheel up and get someone to steady the other wheel and hold wheel and try moving the wheel in
and out to check for play in steering rack, then do same with wheel on left and right lock
7. Do same with other wheel

Let us know how you get on

Check front wheel bearings for play. If found, tighten nuts a little (per manual) and recheck. You might also try removing the front hubs, degrease & clean the bearings with carb cleaner and pack with new grease, then refit.
