Steering column binnacle

As the weathers horrible I'm going to keep to a few achievable tasks.
Today's foolhardy exercise is recovering the leather on the steering column binnacle.
However I can't remove the cover due to the steering wheel.

I've looked at previous blogs talking about the subject however rather than damage anything I thought I'd ask. what do I prise off or unscrew to remove the chrome horn cover?

Everything I see there is non standard - i.e. not from the factory. Not sure how you would get your horn push & wheel boss off.

Your binnacle is already covered. Normally there is a screw top & bottom & the 2 halves separate at 6 & 12 O'Clock.

The horn push surround should lever off,the boss is held by a spline and a nut/washer and surely you mean 3 and 9 O'clock...

They split left/right, at least on a "baby"

it's a +2s for me 1969 or 1970.

...and by looking at the woodgrain on the dashboard,I'd say it's fitted with a Zetec...

Thanks for the replies I'll do my best not to damage the chrome when removing the horn push. I also found some tantilising pictures of the assembly in the Europa catalogue. So I'll give it a whirl and let you know the outcome. Once the leather is repaired.
As for the car...
First prize for guessing 1973 plus 2 spyder conversion. Bought in October for ?1750 not run for 4 years. Soon to be MOT'd for the return of the good weather. Picture attached.

Try getting some plastic type tools for removing interior trim e.g.

That should lever it off with out marking it. Then it's just remove the large nut (1" 1/8 ish). Remove the boss, pull towards you but may need a little assistance especially with out the wheel to pull with. Then there is a screw top and bottom to remove. It should then slide off the come forwards in a single piece.

Your's looks in a little better nick than mine....

I did it, with no damage to chrome and I've started recovering binnacle. Thank you for the advice.

The binnacle itself looks to be a single fibreglass piece and had the name of previous owner on it in pen. So I presume it's manufactured to order by spyder. It should recover easily.
