Alloy grill for vent intake and extraction

Hello all,
the alloy grills I refer to are the ones fitted on the Elan Plus 2 between bonnet and wind screen and either side of the rear screen. My question is should these items be sprayed black with the top polished or where they just cast, cleaned and polished.
With many thanks, regards to all, George.

Well I can only speak personally, as I?ve no idea how they originally appeared on the vehicles.
I sprayed mine matt black, then took the paint off the outer face. To reveal a very clean look.
I think they look fab this way. But maybe it?s just me??

Where, then, lies the answer? In choice. Which shall it be: bankruptcy of purse or bankruptcy of life?

I will get round to painting the screw heads black too. Honest!
I?ll probably spray the bit of fibreglass body, visible through the grill at top and bottom too!
Cheers
Andy

Originally they were cast, cleaned and polished. I have no quarrel with painting black and re-polishing but this is certainly not original.

I?ve had mine over 40 years and they are bare alloy all over with just the front face polished and chrome or stainless countersunk fixing screws.
Change is inevitable, except from a vending machine!
