steering wheel repair

PostPost by: dr_jayhart » Thu Mar 17, 2016 6:42 am

Does anyone know of a company which can repair the rim of my signature 67 + 2 steering wheel which snapped whilst getting out of the car some years ago!

Len Chandler will do it. Reasonable charges and a really nice bloke too.

I'll try and find his contact details for you.

Even better further recommendations and a contact no here:

when i had the same problem i removed the stitching for about 90? either side of broken part. Carefully removed the foam then got the break repaired. Put foam back in place and restitched Wheel cover back in place.
Perfect result and it wasn't difficult, well pleased

Brilliant, Alan! That's the Lotus owner's attitude: we can fix anything if we apply attitude and determination.

Trying to think up an equally brilliant acronym about that from the word LOTUS . . . Lotus Owners Try Unusual Servicing . . . oh, that's not brilliant . . .

I need a steering wheel repair done as well. I have one of the "Chapman Signature" steering wheels, but one spoke is broken at one of the holes. The rim needs to be recovered as well.

Has anyone ever had a spoke weld repaired and refurbished?

Thanks,
Dan Wise

on my TVR 3000S a spoke was broken. Like i said above i removed cover and welded the broken spoke. Put cover back in place. Restiched by hand using two needles and very strong thread. Result as good as new.
imho it's not Rocket Science

I think Len has re made these steering wheels so I would have thought he has the components to replace a damaged spar if needs be.
