At the risk of sounding pretentious it's 'Glass Fibre' - 'Fibreglass' is a US trade name - my Dad used to get really wound up by the use of Fibreglass in the trade in the 1970s . So I like to use glass fibre.....
Miles Wilkins book, How to Repair Fibreglass Bodywork (I know, I know ) is ISBN 0-85045-556-1, and while it was originally published by Osprey Publishing, was also published by published by Motorbooks International, but is currently out of print. It looks specifically at glass fibre car bodies, and gives all the details of type of matt, tissue etc needed to restore a, Elan body. Miles Wilkin's 'How to restore Paintwork' book, ISBN 0-85045-557-X also gives some sound advice on painting glass fibre bodied cars. .
Another good guide is R. H. Warring's 'The Glass Fibre Handbook', Published by Special Interest Model Books, ISBN 978 0 85242 820 7 - its cheap, available and gives all the details of materials needed to restore an Elan's body shell as well as details on some more esoteric techniques.
All three books will give you a good start; practice is important and if you need any more info just let me know.
