Lower Heater Hose Routing

I tried to find something on this in the posts, but failed - so...
I have fitted my original style AC fuel pump to my +2, but now have a minor problem with the heater hose. I think it is supposed to go on the outside of the fuel pump, but at the moment it routes between the pump and the rubber down pipe from the head to the block. I do not want it to touch the pipe as it might beak the seal as the engine moves about. Cable tying the heater hose to the fuel pump helps, but it is still rather too close for comfort.
How do others route this hose?
Dave Chapman.
