Plus2 heater problems

PostPost by: john.p.clegg » Mon Oct 27, 2014 5:23 pm

For the past few years my heater is not functioning....I remember it used to be good, and by that I mean HOT.

It was rebuilt by myself nearly twelve years ago, renewed the flap seals etc.etc
Fan works on both speeds

Have flushed and reverse flushed the heater matrix
Have checked the hoses for kinks/blockages.
Water flows fine from input to output blowing through the tubes.
Thermostat opens and shuts when it should.
Waterpump works as the engine is kept at a good temperature.

The only thing that is bothering me is that the Workshop manual is wrong...shows the wrong type of heater...so I assume the hose from the thermostat housing ( hot ) should go to the top connection of the heater and the take-off from the bottom of the front cover ( cold ) to the bottom of the heater allowing the hot water to cool and fall in the heater matrix....

Agree?,disagree? any other suggestions why my heater isn't heating....

Sounds like your valve is stuck in the shut position, have you checked its operation via the cable to heater control?
Kindest regards

The Plus2,doesn't have a cable operated valve.... I suppose you mean the one on the thermostat housing that b*** elans have?

There is ( or should be) a continual circulation of water from the pump in the front cover round the heater circuit.

Also make sure it's actually moving the flaps rather than just swivelling - it's easy to strip the splines.

I would have thought as there is hot water always in the matrix that you would be able to feel the casing is warm though even if the fan isn't on...

Air lock?

Cheers
