Go to the 'here' link half way down this page http://www.lotuselansprint.com/index.as ... geid=41827

Penultimate sentence of second paragraph: " Please see here for a full list of colours used by Lotus on Elans and Plus 2s from 1962 to 1974." Click on the blue 'here' to go to a comprehensive spread sheet.

As for the type of paint, I recall this is when most British car companies was switching from Lacquer to an Acrylic Lacquer made by Belco. But the paint was horrid and often faded and cracked within a year. Needless to say I don't think they make this anymore nor is the company still around. The new Poly Urethanes would be the best choice, just match the color you want from any of the usual manufacturers, DuPont, PPG, etc. The two stage base coat/clear coat really makes the car shine like glass and outlasts any of the old materials. :D

Thanks for the info, I wondered if the paint was Acrylic Lacquer. The car I have was painted around 1999 and I suspect it was repainted in Acrylic Lacquer again.
It had overstay in the engine bay which washed off with acetone.

Many thanks for your help.
