Excellent, Jeff, and many thanks.

If you need a hand in the review, I'm happy to help and suspect there are others willing to contribute some time, as well.

As always Jeff, thanks for all you do in the background; this place has always been an excellent resource and it's easy to take for granted how much effort it keeps to maintain it.

As a 50+ years accredited motor-sports photographer I hope that adding photos will be easier under the new regime; it was a bit of a pain previously! I do have "one or two" Elan photos going back to the dark ages.

Thanks again.

I have posted a poll concerning Social Media Logins.

Due to the overwhelming results, we will not implement any social media login capabilities.

Great news on the new forum software. Will the image file uploads still be limited to < 1 MB?

Thanks,
Dan

The new system is currently set at a 4MB limit.

That's still smaller than the file size of the pictures that many modern phones' cameras produce, as they get ever higher and higher resolutions with every generation. Just looking through the last twenty or so images taken by my phone I saw sizes ranging from 2.1 to 7.6 MB.

As a web admin for my Lotus Club, I hope that one day a developer creates an add on that automatically resizes photos to say 2MB when posted. Larger photos take up space on servers, which then has to be paid for.

Agree! I do think there are some forum software that do this, as I don't have the same issue on certain forums. But I've gotten reasonably adept at using PhotoEditor on my phone to quickly crop and/or resize photos for those that don't.

Here is a video that overviews the system we are migrating to. The video was produced in 2021 and is a little dated. It will provide an insight of what the new system will look like.

The part that provides the overview starts at 1:30 and ends at 11:00. After the 11th minute, it gets into the admin side of the system.

More info as we get closer.

Sounds good, will pictures be easier to upload like thru, What'sapp.perhaps? As using the existing system is stone age!

Here is a short video on how to use images in the software. It is much easier.

awaiting to discover the new design, if I may, I would stress the importance of graphic elements that illustrate and support most of the technical discussions which in my eyes are the heart and unique added value of the forum: finding a way to secure them within the forum's resources, rather than merely embedding a link to some other place in the www that may or may not stand the test of time, or at least encourage doing so whenever possible, would be key to make a move towards enhancing the longevity perspective of the forum.

in any case, thank you for the work and dedication towards keeping our beloved forum alive all these years!

On a different topic, I was asked how we check to see if a member can be validated before considering purchasing something from them. Here is a short video on how to check out person's stats.

This also shows the dark format you can pick from the available themes.

I believe Discourse is the platform used by the Jag-Lovers forum, which is a very nice platform indeed. Looking forward to this change! Thanks for making this happen!
