Perspex is an Acrylic, I think, probably a trade name.
I used to use Chloroform as a solvent/glue for Perspex when making an underwater-camera housing back in the early 60's
Bit difficult to get hold of nowadays. The powers-that-be don't think we can be trusted with it.

I don't think a Perspex/Acrylic cam cover will take the temperature/conditions of a running engine, so it would have to be for display purpose only.

I remember someone making a clear cam cover (non Lotus)
It looked great but as soon as they turned on the engine the cam cover just filled with oil, and you could not see anything.
They were amazed how much oil goes into the cam cover.

John you must have a problem with the heater. I can drive around in 5C weather with the top down, side windows up, heater on & have toasty legs. When I first came to Canada I used my car summer & winter for at least 3 years & was quite warm & cosy in the car with the top up. I did have to almost block off the air intake to get the engine up to temp, it wouldn't even get up to the thermostat temp without.

What temperature winter stat do you use...I can't be bothered changing it twice a year....it's enough trouble putting all the clocks backward and forward twice a year..

I don't use it in the winter anymore, I was talking about 40+ years ago when I first came to Ontario. I just finished a complete restoration 2 years ago. It only goes out on dry days but I have still had it out when the temp is close to freezing. Once we get snow & the salt is on the roads then I wait until spring to go out. Just to repeat that the heater is very warm with the engine up to temp & no problems with the top up being very cosy inside. Have you tried to back flush the heater to clear out any silt that has accumulated in it?

Yep,had the heater apart during the rebuild and back-flushed and fitted new flaps..it is a bit better when I last fitted a winter stat but on cold days it's like an ice box..
