Early +2 heater question

PostPost by: spridget » Tue Jun 12, 2012 11:05 am

Hi
I'm currently rebuilding my heater and I wonder what kind of foam to use. I found solutions here thank you guys :)
Another questions, do you put some foam on each side of the 2 flaps ? IE 4 pieces are needed ?
Thanks

Franck,

The Heater damper has foam on 2 sides. This is in the fan chamber which includes the eyeball outlets.

The Bottom outlet damper on 1 side only, on the inner side.

Hope this helps.

I found these threads useful.

Alex,

You posted, "+2 heaters were never very good due to the air inlets being in a negative pressure area in front of the windscreen!"

This assumption/statement is not correct. The base of the windscreen and the adjacent inlets are in a positive pressure area. Lotus got it right.

Many thanks Trevor
I have made tonight the rubber seals from an inner tube. I'm still looking for a shop to buy the foam needed

Franck,
I used closed cell foam that was designed to be used under floating wooden flooring. My local flooring supplier was able to supply it by the metre (3m wide!).

It does the job very well and I hope that it will last well too.

Franck, I obtained all the rubber and foam for my +2 heater refurbishment from these people.

Many thanks my friends, the foam under floating wooden flooring is a very good idea. A fellow coworker just had the small part I need

Anyone have a source for the fan blade, mine is brittle and the attaching point to the shaft is trashed.

I think these heater parts come from Ford, probably Cortina parts but I haven't found the exact references
