S3 SE Coupe Airflow - roof trim question

Hi
Just wondering if my car (as above) should have interior lamps on the rear Quarter panels on it, and if it should I have two questions.
1. Could anyone supply a photo of this panel with the lights fitted for me
2. Where would I obtain them from? Paul Matty lists one one but it says for S4
Cheers John

JB,
I have a pre-airflo coupe and a S3-Super Safety DHC, so I really don't have what you are asking about, but....
lo
The late parts book says that all coupes use 2 of the same "courtesy lamp" The S1-S2-Coupe book doesn't cover the air-flo models. I do know that the lamp used in the early coupe is the one about 4 in long, same as the early Elans but no integral switch. I also know that the S3-SS uses the smaller lamp on the dash, same as the S4.
There are wood reinforcements inside the B pillar of my coupe. They are even notched for wire passage to the lamps and the two courtesy lamps mount to these wooden pieces w/ self tappers. If your car originally had courtesy lamps, I would expect you should be able to see holes where they were mounted. Knowing how large the lamps were in my coupe, I'm gonna guess that they were deleted in the later air-flo coupes. I am assuming you do have the tiny coat hooks that also were mounted beside the lamps in the pre-airflo coupe.

Hi Roger,Mike and Brian
Thank you very much for your replies and the pictures. So it is the same as the dash lamp, wow that's big for a courtesy lamp , but if that's what it should be that's what I'll have to get. The car was retrimmed inside but these two panels were just covered over with headlining and I seemed to recall seeing or reading somewhere that there should be lights there, as I type I remember it's in the handbook. I have the courtesy light door switches but the wires are not attached and the manual says the dash and interior lights come on with those switches. So I will reconnect those switches once I take the rear quarter panels off to see what is behind them.
On the subject of the parts book, is it available as a soft copy at all?
I had to buy a hard copy Owners handbook but will be converting that to soft copy soon so I can keep it on my iPad.
Thanks again for your help
Cheers John

How "soft" is acceptable? http://rdent.com/manuals/index.html
