Why the Horsehair?

All,
The recent post on the under rubber padding etc touches a nerve with me. As the shell of my S2 is almost ready for the body shop, I've recently stripped out the horseair off the floors. Given the abject mess, I am reluctant to replace it with the same type of material on my soon to be restored shell. Anyone used a tidier or more aesthetically pleasing alternative?
cheers,
Bill Tebbutt

You could use rubberised hair:

Hi
The rubberised hair is an interesting product but why do we need hair?
Under my carpet is musty and dusty, could we not use a domestic foam carpet underlay like:
https://www.buy-carpet-underlay.co.uk/c ... rlays.html
It would be easier to take out and dry and would not break-up like the horse hair. What are the benefits of using hair?

Hair today, gone tomorrow. I can't think of any reason for using animal products when the modern world has closed-cell foam available. This does not soak up water, so you don't need to dry it out.
I used closed-cell instead of the hairy blanket designed to rot the chassis.
