Hi John
I can't picture the part you mean; do you have a photo?
Have a look at this posting; it may answer your question?

Thanks Jason, it's the rubber pad under the foam but maybe I will have to use webbing strips and cobble something up. It's hard to try and fix/restore an elan for under a tenner!!!

A true Yorkshireman.
I think you may be talking about the same part that was in the other posting. I think we came to the conclusion that they were available from trimmers at silly money so a second hand seat may be better?

Does anyone know if replacement vinyl seat kits are available, my driver seat is splitting along a seam and unfortunately it is not the stitching coming undone it is the seat cover tearing along the sewing line.
Not cheap http://www.newtoncomm.co.uk/cars/lotus- ... ering-kit/

Here's another way to go with the seat supporting rubbers, good to do before you go through the seat ! and tear the expensive to replace covers !
As hopfully can be seen in the attached photo's, I have recently replaced the rubber basses on the bottom of my late +2 seats.
these were purchased from Newton Commercial trimmers, for ?58 all in, including all clips.
All you have to do is drill new mounting holes from the bottom so seat covers don't nead removal.
Although i used my original clips instead of the supplied "s" clips as they held the rubber tighter. (also left old seat rubbers on as padding).
The whole job on two seat took under 1 1/2 hour's.
The diagram was supplied by newton commercial as a know fix to a now no-existent part !
regards
Brett
