CV Driveshafts

PostPost by: jeff jackson » Tue Aug 17, 2021 11:01 am

Hi all,
Probably been covered before, but I came across PNM Engineering.

https://www.pnmparts.co.uk/elan-plus2-6 ... t-kit-9663

They do look the part, has anyone used these?
Any feedback Positive negative?
I am at the point of swapping my chassis and the driveshafts were on my list of things to purchase.

Kind regards
Jeff 72+2

Hi Jeff
They look a lot like the Kelvedon ones and possibly more expensive. I wonder if they just buy them in.
As they do not have any in stock and are only taking advance orders, I think you would be as well buying the well known and proven Kelvedon ones form themselves or from Sue Miller.

Agreed, definitely look like the Miller/Kelvedon shafts.

Don't forget there's import duty to pay on the trikbits shafts, I paid about £135.00 for mine recently. Very happy with the product though.

A sad fact I had factored in.
I have some Spyder shafts if anyone wants them? One careless owner.

Hi there
These do look identical to the Miller/Kelvedon items. I've got a set of these on my '73 Plus 2 S130 and they're great, I'd never go back to rubber donuts or anything else. Price doesn't look too bad to me, I paid £537 for mine 10 years ago

The Lotus Marques CV joints always seem to be forgotten about, they're really good and Steve is very helpful with the shipping. No connections just a happy customer.

Rdent style are also good and include new diff output shafts. It hard to beat the price of the Kelvedon ones TBH.

They look remarkably similar to the Kelvedon ones I’ve recently fitted. The cars not back on the road yet so have tried them, but they fitted easily and appear well made, no fettling or filing required, just slide in and bolt up.
Change is inevitable, except from a vending machine!

Somehow and I'm not entirely sure how, I've ended up with CV joints from Dave Bean, Trikbits and Lotus Marques, they're all good but I have my own favourite.

Some description of why and what would be nice please. Hope I never need another set, as I have 3.

Edit
3 Trickbits. Because of droop and not needing to deal with straps breaking or the bother for the extra $, also I believe the quality is top

The Lotus Marques version now is an evolved copy of an earlier version of the TrickBits ones as far as I am aware as Col originally made them for Lotus Marques many years ago. I have not seen a current version first hand to asses their quality but from the Lotus marques web site pictures and description dated from around 2012 to 2014 they look OK and still similar to the TrickBits ones which are as good as you can get IMHO.

cheers

Thanks for the feedback guys.
I was under the impression that Sue Miller does not do the CV driveshafts anymore. (That's what she told me a few years back anyhow).
I really fancy the Col Croucher driveshafts, I spoke to Col last year when I was living in Sydney, prices and delivery to Sydney were reasonable. Now marooned back in the UK, the delivery and import tax (really?) puts me off.
Anyone who lists the shafts, (PNM or Kelvedon) they are made to order.
Good thing is that no one has really said anything negative about any of the shafts on offer, so that's good.
A big outlay for me if I get something that doesnt work!
Back out to the garage now for some chassis painting.

Kind regards
Jeff
