Diff Breather

PostPost by: alanr » Wed Nov 20, 2019 4:58 pm

I have just replaced in situ my diff output seals and bearings (not a nice job!) on my +2 and would ideally like to check if the diff breather is clear, however I can't even see the breather with the diff brace in place.
So my question is, if I remove the diff brace which will mean removing the mounting bolts (nuts under tank etc) will I be able to both see and also remove the breather?
I just don't want to go to all the trouble of removing the diff brace only to find I still can't remove or get access the breather to check if it is clear with the diff in situ.

I doubt that you will be able to get anywhere near it without cutting an access hole in the wall of the boot. ... Number 38.

Thanks for the input. Yes that was exactly was my thought.
Thinking about it I will probably just have to trust to luck that it is clear. If my diff oil leaks are now cured following my recent efforts I guess it won't be necessary to pursue checking it.
