Intermediate shaft run out

PostPost by: IainP » Fri Jan 05, 2024 4:28 pm

Being new to all this Lotus stuff, I’ve just realised the intermediate shaft, output shaft and final drive shaft are all marked with yellow paint on the corresponding ears……….is this a PO marking or did Lotus do this with pre assembled? Balanced assemblies?
Curiosity and all that :D

Ps I think I might have answered that, Sue M has sent me a good s/h intermediate that is scruffy but also is marked like this? So what was the marking for?

I’ll go with SKF from a local bearing factors

I agree with that. I bought new bearings from SJ sportscars - Think for they were £8 to £10. They lasted about 1000 miles. I've since put in SKF from local bearing specialists. They cost getting on for 10x the amount I paid .for the original items but (hopefully !) will last - so far so good.

Well offside all dissembled, without too many dramas.
I need to clean the thread in the output shaft…..some damage from po I guess. What is the thread size please?
5/8 x ? tip. It seems to measure at 20 which I think is a bit unusual.
Many thanks
