Hairline crack in diff case

I don?t see why welding wouldn?t work, I had my S2 diff case ear welded back on when it had an argument with a CV adapter also had it bushed due to the mounting hole being oval.
I don?t know what method was used but doubt it was anything sophisticated as it was done by the local engineering shop in S.Africa about 20 years ago and its been fine since although I did fit a diff brace.
