Drive shaft central pins

Hi All
I am ready to fit drive shafts. I have 2 options from my box of parts
Pair of Rotoflex but need new rubber doughnuts
Pair of sliding spline UJ shafts which were full of dirty grease and rust with no rubber boot. I have cleaned them up, regressed them and fitted a rubber boot. They seem quite serviceable.
The shafts coming from the diff and brakes are both 3 bolts with a central location pin which is unlike any drawing on the spare part lists. Any ideas
To fit the sliding spline which are 4 bolt I have found 4 conversion plates which i have fitted
My problem is the central pins are stopping the Sliding spline from fitting as there is no location holes in the sliding spline.
On the brake end the pin has been sawn off flush to the conversion plate which seems rather drastic
On the diff end 1 pin has been sawn of leaving a 6mm end the other has not been touched
Has anyone fitted sliding spline UJ shaft did you have to cut off any pins
Please see photo

Pete,
Later cars had an anti flail pin and ring fitted. Pin on outer drive shaft and pin on diff output shaft. Then the actual intermediate shaft had locating collars. The threory being if a do nut let go it did not flail about and do damage. Over the years many of the pins have been sawn off. Questionable anyway IMO. Pin was only welded on. Likely rip off.
Your photo looks like the adaptor plate for your sliding spline hook jount shafts.
I would just cut the pins off at the weld and fit the sliding spline arrangement.
There is a monumental debate about the do nuts, CV and hook joints. This is what I would do. I have run hook joints on both Elans and Plus 2's. No problem.
Enough things like prostate problens to get your gentlemans tackle without a flailing broken do nut shaft.

Hi Pete,
if you put adapter plates at each end of driveshafts be sure the driveshafts with UJs are the correct length.
You will also add weight and increase deflection angles.
Best to be light as possible and mini deflection angles.
