Gentle advice:

It's best if you put the essence of the question as the title and then the detail of the question in the first posting.

"Rubber donuts part 2" simply isn't significant and so you are unlikely to get any sensible response, especially since you ask that we trawl through another topic looking for the question.

I suggest you completely re-edit this topic changing the title to a meaningful one and re-posting the real question in the first message.

Why not keep your original post and add any details / questions to that original post - it's easier for you, and it's easier for others to follow a thread when it's all in one place.

If you want to add anything to a topic, why not add it to the original one? Perhaps potential posters will respond if they have anything worthwhile to add, but if they haven't, a new post is unlikely to attract further useful comments!

"Add lightness" by stripping as much back as possible is just as relevant to cars or threads!!

Ignore it ? No chance. That was the best bit so far.

Hi Bill, you are right as usual.
Bob, if you are still bothering to read this stuff, it can happen that we go off piste and have a bit of fun with each other. Sorry, no offence meant, it is intended to just be fun.
Personally, I support the change to CV`s. They improved the driving experience for me and gave me more confidence when accelerating into a gap in traffic. I would not go back to doughnuts. I did have to replace the rubber boot on one recently when it is only a few years old.
Cheers

No castigation going on here, just gentle ribbing and by definition, born of experience, any Lotus owner can easily handle criticism. :D

Eric thanks. no offense was taken. Thank you for thoughts on the donuts. I have several sets from 35 years old ones that have never been used and I was weighting out using them or cv's. With all your help I've decided to go with the Cv joints. I bought elan when I was 22 back in 1969. I did a lot to the car in the early years I put a EN19 1600 crank into the 1500 block, It does fit barely with work, the cam has 408 lift with 304 duration. BRM phase 4 valves and the head was ported. I have not used the car for over 25 years. I'm bringing it back to the days when I was in school at UCLA and Sunset Blvd was my outlet and race track. I have no plans to drive the same way as I did like the time I ran up against Steve McQueen on Sunset one afternoon or the time my mom said show me what you do when I'm not around, She never got in the car again. Thanks all for the help.
