Cv driveshaft installation help needed

PostPost by: thorbs000 » Sat Feb 08, 2014 11:23 am

Hi all
After having purchased new cv driveshafts,I have this morning tried to install one side.
Having got the 3 studs located in the diff end,at the hub end the studs are to long to allow them to go through the holes and there doesn't seem to be enough play to manoeuvre the studs through the holes.
Do I need to release the a frames from the chassis to allow the hub to swing out?

Shafts were purchased from Kelvedon and the studs are loctited in

The brake disk goes on the outside of the outer drive shaft three eared flange. You may need to relieve the holes in the drive shaft if it still does not fit as they were not very accurately machined originally

The CV joints should telescope in a little, but if that isn't enough why not undo the lower swivels on the hub carrier so that you can swing it out slightly. Then it should line up.

THough this topic is about doughnuts (rotoflexes) rather than solid shafts, it shows with photos the technique of fitting the rear drive shafts by undoing the bottom links at the rear hub.

Maybe if you fitted the outside (longer studs ) first then the diff?
