Diff Oil Cooler Photos

PostPost by: lsdweb » Tue Feb 08, 2011 4:02 pm

Hi All

Can somebody point me to some photographs of diff oil coolers (Elan!) as I've searched and searched but failed! It's unlikely I'll fit one as my car is a hillclimb car but I want to fit the wiring when I build the looms just in case.

Ta

Final picture of the oil cooler installation on 26 S2 40, the photo's are of the car before its restoration commenced and as it raced from new.

Hope these help.

Thanks for the photos - just what I needed! I'm assuming the cooler does its job and keeps the oil at the right temperature? What pump is it?

Thanks again

I forgot to add that I'll be fitting a temperature sender to the diff and logging it so hopefully I'll have an idea of what's going on back there!

When the car is stationary, does it work as an oil heater?

I'll check make, when next at the shed, the car came with all the original parts that have ever been replaced as I'm 3rd owner so assume its the pump originally supplied with car.

It would be easy enough to fit an oil stat in line although I'd be conscious of drag. Its clearly worked as the car was 2nd overall to 250LM ferrari in 1966 in 12 hour race here in Australia, think hot, the diff is the original pawl unusual LSD and CWP were in excellent order. It ran at least 3 of the 12 hours races and was a finisher in all of them.

We've a new borne baby so may be a week or so.

Cheers
